Beauty and Solitude on Spanish Wall Beach

If you’re looking to plan a quick warm-weather getaway this winter, and you want to save money by staying in the U.S. don’t forget about a trip to Puerto Rico as an option. Spots like Rincon, which is on Puerto Rico’s west coast, have beaches that rival the most beautiful in the Caribbean and the trip may be a lot more affordable than other Caribbean destinations.

Spanish Wall Beach is just one the many beaches in Rincon, but is super cool because it is so remote. This beach can only be reached by hiking to it; the trip isn’t too long or arduous, but the beach is definitely hidden away enough that you likely won’t need to worry about fighting crowds. Spanish Wall gets its name from the old railroad path and wall that ran along the beach and parts of the wall can still be seen. You can relax in seclusion on this beach, and enjoy this unique spot where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Caribbean Sea. This makes for gorgeous blue waters and actually very good surfing conditions. You’ll want to pack a picnic lunch and bring along a book or your e-reader, don’t expect to find the trappings and entertainment of a public beach here. But if you want a remote getaway that’s not too far away then Spanish Wall Beach in Rincon, Puerto Rico is a perfect place to go.
