When the beautiful islands of the Caribbean are discussed as being amazing beach getaway spots, there is one that sometimes gets overlooked. People often think that Dominca and Dominican Republic are the same place when, in fact, they are two different Caribbean islands. Dominica is a small, English-speaking island that is located in the eastern part of the Caribbean and which absolutely holds its own among the gorgeous Caribbean destinations.
Dominica is the youngest island in the Lesser Antilles and is known as the “natural isle of the Caribbean” because the island has so many spots of untouched beauty. In addition to mountainous rainforest and volcanic stretches of land, Dominica is home to the world’s second largest hot spring, called Boiling Lake. This draws many visitors to the island as does the fact that the small island is surrounded by the Caribbean Sea on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other. Dominica has become a popular stop for cruise ships in the last five years or so, which has led to an influx of shops, restaurants and hotels lined up along the shoreline of the lush and beautiful island.
