We love to tell you about great, beautiful, fun or relaxing beaches wherever we may find them. Sometimes they’re located in the most glamorous of tropical climes, like on Caribbean Islands or far-flung locations like Fiji. But, sometimes gorgeous beaches can be found a lot closer to home. The U.S. might have vast oceans off either coast, but within the states themselves there are some true beach gems to be found on the shores of some incredible lakes. In fact, this particular beach is on a lake that is, well, Great.
Lake Michigan is likely the most popular of the five Great Lakes for people who are looking to vacation. It stretches from the shores of Chicago and up along Wisconsin on its western edge, and runs along the state of Michigan on its Eastern border. In Michigan, the lake that shares its name is home to some wonderful vacation towns such as Traverse City and Saugatuck. And if you visit Saugatuck you simply must spend at least a day chilling in the beauty that is Oval Beach. Although this beach is on a Great Lake and not an ocean you’d never know that as you gaze out at the horizon and take in the beach’s picturesque views. Oval Beach is clean, with soft, golden sand and plenty of space to stretch out. Oval Beach is surrounded by the Saugatuck Sand Dunes, which are another super fun thing to do and see. Located on Michigan’s western side, close to Kalamazoo, Oval Beach and Saugatuck are a true first-class summer beach vacation spot.
