The islands that make up French Polynesia in the South Pacific have been called magical by many and no one who has visited them would dare call that an overstatement. Among these islands are names that people conjure when they dream about escaping to a tropical island – names like Tahiti and Bora Bora. It’s the latter island that is considered one of the most romantic islands on earth, and is also considered one of the most beautiful. And sitting at the southernmost tip of the island of Bora Bora is Matira Point, home to Matira Beach, which is like the perfecting cherry atop the beauty that is Bora Bora.
Matira Beach is a rather secluded stretch of sand that sits as a cap to Matira Point. The locals and tourists alike all agree that this is Bora Bora’s very best beach. Matira is quiet and peaceful and just plain postcard gorgeous. When you sit on this beach and watch the sun set over the bright turquoise water you will want to burn every single detail of it into your memory because you’re well aware that you’re seeing one of the most gorgeous natural sights you’re ever going to see. Matira Beach is only a mile long, running from Hotel Bora Bora to Matira Point, but that one short mile packs a big punch of beauty. The blue skies and water are on one side, thick, bright green trees are on the other side, and white soft sand is beneath your feet. The lagoon floor is soft and free of coral or rocks; when the tide is low enough you can even wade to Matira Point. Snorkeling is also fantastic at Matira Beach. Is there anything else you could want from a beach experience?
